It is with great pleasure that we announce that Marisol O. Ramos-Lopez has been appointed President & Chief Executive Officer of Willow Domestic Violence Center by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors.
Marisol O. Ramos-Lopez has over 20 years’ experience in management positions in local government. She led the Department of Recreation and Youth Services for the City of Rochester, administering and overseeing the operations of several bureaus and facilities with 400+ staff and an annual budget of $15 million. Marisol had direct oversight for the following bureaus/programs: 15 Recreation Centers serving over 25,000 youth; Youth Development Services with emphasis on health, teen pregnancy prevention, personal growth, and employment; Operation Transformation Rochester, an anti-poverty initiative; the Rochester Public Market, operations and expansion; and Pathways to Peace, a youth violence reduction programming initiative.
Marisol brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience, having served on the Boards of many local organizations, including: Causewave Community Partners, The Center for Youth, the Ibero-American Action Development Corporation, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She is a founding board member and former Chairperson of the Bivona Child Advocacy Center. Marisol holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Organizational Management from Keuka College and is a graduate of Barry University in Miami, Florida with a B.A. in Communications. She lives in Rochester with her life partner Ron Penders and together they share five children.
In 2018, she was named an Athena Finalist by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and also a Woman of Excellence by the Rochester Business Journal. She was a Forty Under 40 honoree of the Rochester Business Journal, and honored by the Latinas Unidas’ Reconocimiento Award for her Leadership Achievements.
Marisol has seen firsthand the impact of domestic violence, and has a deep commitment to ensuring youth and families have access to the services and supports needed on their journey to a safe and empowered life. Marisol’s depth of experience will allow Willow to continue its comprehensive and collaborative approach to providing life-saving domestic violence services. Willow is delighted to have Marisol at the helm as we enter the next phase of our service to the Rochester community. Her experience in the areas of management, operations, programming and finance will be tremendous assets to Willow Center as we look to the future.
